Pierre V. Lamoureux
Pierre was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. He received his B.A. degree from Faculté Saint-Jean of the University of Alberta in 1979. After marrying Joanne and touring the country for 2 years writing, producing and performing in musical reviews on the French-speaking history of Western Canada, Pierre received his LL.B. degree from the Université de Moncton in 1987 and was called to the Alberta Bar in 1988. He and Joanne returned home to Alberta to raise their family and Pierre practiced law in Edmonton until they moved to St. Paul, Alberta in 1996 where he has practiced law to the present.
Pierre enjoys promoting public legal education and professional public service as a past President and active member of the Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Alberta, and the Canadian Bar Association.
With Joanne, he is also active engaged in the St. Paul Roman Catholic Cathedral faith community and the francophone community of St. Paul and has served 3 years as President of l’Association canadienne-française de l’Alberta, Régionale de St-Paul.
He is the founding President of the Lakeland Cross-Country Ski Club and is an avid weekend warrior on skinny skis. He has completed the Canadian Birkebeiner 55 km ski marathon 8 times.
Pierre has a busy and successful practice of family law. His practice includes litigation prevention and family estate planning by negotiation of Pre and Post Nuptial and Cohabitation Agreements and Court applications for Adoption Orders. He practices mainly dispute resolution of post separation family law issues including parenting re-structuring (“custody and access”), determination of child support and of spousal support, and division of property of both married individuals and of adult interdependent partners. He is a certified Collaborative Family Law practitioner, a mediator trained in interest-based negotiation, and also conducts pre-litigation settlement conferencing (“4-way lawyer-assisted client settlement meetings”) as well as practicing conventional adversarial litigation. Pierre’s practice also includes general civil, personal injury, and estate litigation and dispute resolution.
